Current situation and Prospect of plastic packaging for drugs in China
packaging of plastic bottles for medicine:
at present, most of the packaging of pharmaceutical tablets and capsules in China adopts high-quality plastic bottles such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP), and the production specifications are mostly in the range of 15 ml to 150 ml, which will increase to 4billion in 2005. At present, China has introduced more than 60 foreign injection blow molding plastic bottle production lines, and the capacity to produce high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles is about 900million/year. In addition, there are more than 300 extrusion and blow molding production lines with domestic equipment
considering the special requirements for drug packaging, it is mainly to prevent the volatilization of drug gas in the plastic bottle and the penetration of external gas into the bottle. It is required that there is a good sealing performance between the plastic bottle mouth and the bottle cap. The injection blow molding plastic bottle process should first ensure the accuracy of the bottle mouth, and then blow the bottle body in the injection blow molding process, which can meet the requirements of drug packaging. Therefore, the molding method of producing plastic bottles for drug packaging is gradually transitioning from extrusion blow molding to injection blow molding or injection blow molding
aluminum plastic blister packaging of drugs:
aluminum plastic blister packaging of drugs is a packaging form of tablets and capsules that has developed greatly in recent years, and is also known as "PTP" blister packaging of drugs. Most of its blister sheets use PVC hard sheets (P VC due to the long payback period). Because drugs have high requirements for packaging, and drugs are sensitive to moisture, moisture and light transmission, once the barrier performance of materials is poor, it often leads to deterioration or failure of drugs. Therefore, plastic hard pieces are required to have excellent barrier properties of moisture, light, etc. However, PVC is not ideal in terms of moisture and gas resistance, so polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) or its composites will be used in the future
because PVDC has excellent barrier property to oxygen, water vapor and carbon dioxide gas in the air, compared with other materials with the same thickness, PVDC has 1500 times of oxygen barrier property than polyethylene (PE), 1000 times of polypropylene (PP), 100 times of polyester (PET), 20 times of water vapor barrier property than PE, 10 times of PP and 40 times of pet. PVDC has better barrier property to water vapor and some gases than PVC. In addition, PVDC barrier performance is not affected by temperature, humidity and other external conditions. PVDC not only has good barrier to gases such as water vapor and odor, but also its sealing performance, impact strength, tensile strength, durability and other indicators can meet the requirements of drug packaging. It is estimated that by 2005, China's demand for plastic hardware for pharmaceutical packaging, such as PVDC or pvc/pvdc, pvc/pe and other composite materials, will reach more than 60000 tons, and multi-layer plastic composite materials will be gradually adopted, such as pvc/pvdc/pe, pvdc/opp/pe and other composite plastic hardware with excellent light shielding performance
plastic bottle packaging of pharmaceutical oral liquid:
at present, most of the domestic tincture water syrup aqueous oral liquid packaging uses low-quality and backward glass bottles or plastic bottles. The bottle caps of some products are of poor quality and easy to leak. Moreover, most containers do not have measuring scales and supporting measuring cups, resulting in inconvenient use and inaccurate dosage for patients. At present, there is one imported production line using high-quality plastic (PET) as raw material, with a production capacity of 26.8 million pieces/year, which is far from meeting the needs of the pharmaceutical market. It is necessary to introduce or develop advanced production equipment on the basis of digestion and absorption. By 2010, the consumption of plastic containers for oral liquids in China will increase significantly, with specifications ranging from 100 ml to 200 ml. the materials are polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polycarbonate (PC), which are developing at a rapid speed. Develop high-quality plastic bottles for tincture water syrup, including plastic bottles that are dark and have measurement scales or measuring cups. The production and consumption have increased from 30% at the end of 2001 to more than 60%
plastic bottle packaging of eye drops:
at present, China has introduced foreign production lines to produce eye drops, with a production capacity of 323million bottles/year. In the future, we will develop and promote high-quality polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) and polypropylene (PP) products with reasonable structure, accurate dropping amount and clean label, with specifications of 8ml and 10ml. In 2005, high-quality bottles will reach more than 360million
ointment plastic packaging:
at present, this product is mainly packaged in plastic tubes, aluminum coated tubes and lead tin tubes, with the capacity of 2G, 4G, 10g and 15g, of which 2G and 10g are used in a large amount. Among them, the inner coated printing aluminum tubes will replace the lead tin tubes accounting for 10% of the total and some low-quality plastic tubes without printing, and the output will strive to reach 670million in 2005. Develop and produce high-quality plastic tubes and composite tubes for ointment printing, replacing the current low-quality products without printing
plastic infusion container packaging:
at present, 13 plastic infusion bag production lines have been introduced in China, with a production capacity of about 57 million bags/year. With the development and promotion of high-quality zhanjuli plastic infusion containers, the production and consumption of glass infusion bottles have been gradually reduced. In 2005, plastic infusion bags reached about 43% of the total output of infusion containers, about 730million bags
Plastic drug packaging of other dosage forms:
it is mainly promoted and applied to the plastic composite film bag packaging of drugs such as granules, powders, powders, etc. the following varieties are introduced:
1 stretched polypropylene (BOPP) film: biaxial stretched BOPP film has good transparency, which is closely related to the development of gas turbines, heat resistance and good barrier performance. It is used in the outer layer of composite bags, and it is combined with LDPE, EVA, EEA EAA or aluminum foil composite greatly improves the stiffness and physical and mechanical properties of the composite film. If PVDC with excellent moisture resistance is coated on BOPP base film, its impermeability will be greatly improved
2 polypropylene film (CPP): it has good heat sealing property and is mostly used for the inner layer of composite packaging bags. It can be vacuum aluminized and then compounded with BOPP, pet, OPA, Pt, etc
3 film (PETP): biaxially stretched polyester film has extremely high mechanical strength and rigidity, high heat resistance, but it has large water absorption, good drug resistance, excellent transparency and gloss, small water and oxygen permeability, and particularly good fragrance retention, which is incomparable with all other films
4 dichloroethylene film (PVDC): it is a kind of film with the best barrier performance, unlike PVC or Eval, which is affected by humidity changes. It has good transparency and good heat and cold resistance. PVDC lotion can be used as the moisture-proof coating of polypropylene film. The Pt or OPP coated with it has good moisture-proof and barrier properties, which improves the performance of drug packaging
5 vacuum aluminizing film; Vacuum aluminum coating is a kind of thin film from aluminum vapor to various base films under high vacuum. The aluminum coating is very thin. At present, vacuum aluminizing films of PETP, CPP, Pt, PVC, OPP, PE, etc. are widely used, most of which are vacuum aluminizing films of PETP, CPP, PE, etc. In addition to the characteristics of the original base film, the vacuum aluminized film also has beautiful decoration and better barrier performance. Especially, after aluminizing various substrates, the light transmittance, oxygen permeability and water vapor permeability are reduced by dozens or hundreds of times. It can be used as a good material in pharmaceutical packaging and is one of the excellent materials to be developed in the future
